We are pleased to announce that AM Oktarina Counsellors at Law has been recommended by British Embassy as their list of Lawyers in Indonesia. The fact that we are among the 13 (Thirteen) Law Firms in Jakarta who make it to the List is clear evidence that we are among the best in our service.

There are several factors that contribute to us being able to receive such achievement. But perhaps the greatest advancement is that we have the ambition to always stay at the absolute forefront of identifying tendencies in legal industry. We are able to convey our strong corporate culture – where we encourage initiative, collaboration and knowledge sharing between the colleagues and finally able to provide our best service to our clients.
One of the projects we are particularly proud of, we managed to protect the interests of our client by changing the permit of borrow-to-use Area of Forests owned by the third largest Mining Company Indonesia, where the company mentioned operated in prohibited areas regulated by the Minister of Forestry, and simultaneously intersect with our client plantation land. We are systematically succeeded in changing the agreement that is 20 years of age of a permit that is obliged to submit to the government with changes in boundaries in accordance with Plantation Law. The violations committed by the Mining Company include:
- conduct mining activities without having an environmental quality threshold (AMDAL). This is contrary to Mining Law which requires an AMDAL.
- conduct mining activities in areas that are prohibited by Minister of Forestry.
- conduct mining activities without paying taxes since 2011 or approximately 8 years ago, which are required by tax and mining regulations.
As a result, the third largest Mining Company is required to submit many requirements before fulfilling its mining activities reiteratively, and is prohibited from operating in the restricted area determined by the Ministry of Forestry. The case estimated value is USD 6.700.000.000 (six billion seven hundred million United State Dollar)
